For Karen, the morning news beat is familiar ground. She has spent most of her career on the sunrise shift, bringing her listeners up to date on what happened while they slept, what they'll be talking about today, and what they'll need to know tomorrow.
She is an accomplished journalist whose stories have aired nationally on NPR and throughout Louisiana on the LPB weekly newsmagazine Louisiana: The State We're In. She has also worked as the morning newscaster for Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Radio Network and for many years was news director at WRKF-FM, where she worked also as local morning host for NPR's Morning Edition.
Karen holds a bachelor's degree in journalism, with a minor in business administration from LSU. She is married and the mother of two sons.
