PLAQUEMINE (WBRZ)- School resource officers will be increased at schools in Iberville Parish.
The Sheriff's Department is adding to its force in the wake of the school shooting in Connecticut.
Experienced deputies are being moved from the patrol division to schools. Additional deputies will be hired to fill the positions on the street.
The extra force will be on campus soon.
State leaders are also in the process of talking about school security at public schools in Louisiana. They are addressing potential procedural issues that can be changed to make schools safer.
