The Baton Rouge Metro Council may vote later this month about paying the Council on Aging to provide meals for teens awaiting trial in juvenile jail.

The allotment of more than $480,000 would feed the teens from February 1 through the end of the year, with an option of extending the contract through the end of 2025.

The aging, overcrowded juvenile jail and kitchen services have had problems with staffing, so they've fed the young inmates with outside vendors.
