A senior community is planned for the former grounds of the Earl K. Long Hospital.

The hospital was built in 1967 and torn down in 2015.

The East Baton Rouge Housing Authority has publicized a 117-unit senior community as one of a number of plans for the location on Airline Highway.

The senior center will provide access to food, housing, recreation, education, and job assistance.

Our Lady of the Lake Hospital is nearby and can provide health care.

An official with the housing authority says more information is forthcoming.
