The Baton Rouge Police Department says an officer with the drug squad tied to allegations of corruption has been fired.

Officials confirmed yesterday that Officer Jacob Cowart, who had been on leave since April, was no longer with the BRPD.

Cowart is linked to actions by Officer Jason Acree, who is accused of stealing drugs from the Department's evidence room.

Former officer Jeremiah Ardoin, who was arrested at the end of 2020 for possession of stolen items, has been cooperating with an internal investigation into allegations of corruption.
