Sally Makes Landfall At Category 2 Hurricane

Hurricane Sally has made landfall on the Gulf Coast this morning as a category 2 hurricane with 105 mile per hour winds.

The National Hurricane Center says Sally made landfall near Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Cities and towns all along the Alabama Gulf Coast are getting pounded this morning with a combination of high winds, heavy rain and storm surge. Sally has also knocked out power to hundreds of thousands in the region.

Rainfall amounts are predicted to be between 15 to 20 inches over the next 24 to 48 hours with storm surge along the Alabama and Florida coastlines anywhere between two to seven feet.
