A Zachary man is dead as the result of a one-vehicle crash on LA-10 in East Feliciana Parish.
Troopers say that for reasons yet to be determined, a Honda Accord being driven by 37-year-old Melvin Bates, III left the roadway just before three yesterday afternoon and slammed into a tree.
Bates was not wearing a seatbelt and investigators say impairment may have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.
